Short version: your logs and data never leave your device. We don't have a server that can see them, and we don't want one.
Data Sanitizer runs entirely in your web browser. The logs, code, or text you paste in are processed locally on your machine and are never transmitted to us or any third party. We operate no backend that receives, stores, or logs your content. No original value, token mapping, file or case ever leaves your device.
To understand which features are used and where detection needs improving, the app can send anonymous usage events to our analytics provider, PostHog (EU cloud, Frankfurt). An event contains only:
sanitize, copy_output, manual_category);Events never contain the text you paste, any original value, any token-to-value mapping, file names, your email, or your license key. We do not use cookies for analytics, we do not build profiles, and our PostHog project is configured to discard IP addresses. You can see every event in your browser's developer tools (Network tab).
Your choice: untick Options → “Share anonymous usage stats” at any time and nothing is sent. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, usage stats are off by default. See posthog.com/privacy.
Our public website pages (home page, blog, changelog) use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and does not fingerprint you. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
To remember your preferences, the app may store the following in your own browser's local storage, only on your device: your settings/toggles, your Watch List and custom patterns, saved cases (if you use Case History), a random device identifier for licensing, a separate random install identifier for anonymous statistics, your usage-stats preference, and (if you purchase Pro) your license key and activation status. You can clear this at any time via the app's controls or your browser settings.
Free trial: if you start the 7-day Pro trial, the email address you enter is sent to our form provider, Formspree, together with the trial start time. We use it to support your trial and to send occasional product updates; you can opt out at any time by replying to any email.
Feedback and bug reports: if you use “Report a problem / feedback” in the app, we receive the message you write, your email if you add one, and — only if you leave “Attach diagnostic info” ticked — the app version, browser, screen size, enabled detectors and token counts per category. Diagnostics never include your text or original values. These are delivered through Formspree. Please don't paste raw logs into a report.
Email: if you email us, we receive what you send and use it only to respond.
License verification: activating Pro sends your license key and a random device identifier to Lemon Squeezy to verify it — never your content. See lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record and handles your payment details, billing information, and applicable taxes. We never see or store your card details. Lemon Squeezy shares with us limited order information (such as your email and order id) needed to provide support and licensing.
You can ask us to access or delete anything you sent us (trial email, feedback) at support@datasanitizer.app. Anonymous usage events are not linked to your identity; if you'd like them deleted, send us the install identifier shown in your browser storage (sanitizer_anon_id_v1) and we'll remove it.
The app is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change. Material changes will be reflected here.
